Reimagine Shochu | Tea Master Shinya Sakurai
Shinya Sakurai is the owner and tea master of one of the most breathtaking tea salons in Tokyo, aptly named Sakurai Tea Experience. Located in Omotesando, Mr. Sakurai’s experience is filled with highly curated Japanese teas ranging from classics such as regional sencha to some of the most obscure oxidative teas that can be found in the country.
Mr. Sakurai’s roots can be traced back to a cocktail bar in Ginza, where he learned the art of Japanese cocktail making. Ginza is notorious for its authentic Japanese bar culture. Defined by near-religious attention to detail and hospitality, Mr. Sakurai points out the curious similarities between the art of the Japanese tea ceremony and Ginza-style cocktail bartending.
